Neo City Express is a madcap arcade game about making extremely poor decisions while driving.
You play as Daggers McBlack, the heir to his family's delivery company. Guide him through 6 top-down arcade racing levels, dodging cars and sorting out his personal affairs. In order to take the company to new heights, Daggers will push himself to questionable limits. But he's traveling with the loving memory of his grandma, so perhaps with her guidance everything will turn out alright.

Before you play!
The game has auto-save, feel free to stop and continue later.
WASD or arrow keys to move, type to write! The 1 and 2 keys will be used at some point too.
QWERTY, AZERTY, COLEMAK and DVORAK supported, choose yours in the options screen.
This is the post jam version! It has small design and difficulty improvements, and many many bugs fixed, but if you want, you can play the original (harder) version on Ludum Dare website.
If you are playing on a Mac, OSX security is extremely annoying and will say that the file is damaged, it's not. While we wait for Apple to certify us, you can still run the game by running this terminal command with the app path:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /path/to/app.app

I have got to admit, that might be the weirdest way I have ever gotten the good ending before. I love the plate spinning hysteria of trying to focus on everything at once, even if my first attempt did end quickly and miserably.
Managed to get the Mac app running, but can't get past the splash screen before it crashes, both on arm and x64 version. Macbook M2 with latest OS. Anything I can do to make it run anyway?
it would help us a *ton* if can you try running, from a terminal:
that should generate a crash.log in path/to/app.app/Contents/MacOS (it seems that app bundles in mac intercept exceptions before I get a chance to generate the log file, so executing it that way should give us something)
Did as you asked, ran the command, but now: no more crashes! Also, no crash log in the app folder.

Oh my goodness, this was absolutely hysterica, and it was a lot of fun (and tense af!). I'm soooooooo glad I'm a quick typer cuz otherwise I never would've stood a chance, and the fact that I've actually texted and driven far too many times probably helped too 🤣 But shhhhhhhhhh 100% would not recommend. Seriously though, this was incredible! I had to play without audio so I'm sad I missed out on the voice acting, but seriously this was a huge surprise of a game and had terrific dialogue, gameplay, and art, and it was done for Ludum Dare?!?! Howwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww?!?!?!
PS: I love the baby delivery comment lol, way to get that into the game in addition to being a game about making deliveries 🤣

Hi, just to inform that sadly none of the Mac version works under Monterey nor Ventura OS. :(. (under Ventura not playable with a forbidden sign on it, and on Monterey, the app says that the download has been damaged - usually appears if you missed some libraries)

Ok thanks, extracting the dmg to the app folder and using the command did the trick :)

this security thing should appear only with zip downloaded on the net, (not from local network or usb file) but as I see it happens with the .dmg file too (I mean not zipped..well although dmg is a kind of compression too)

Edit : 72hours!! most people don't realize the amount of work it requires to do that in so little time (It nearly took me a year to make a playable demo Tá´–T )
and found Bugs: on Mac at the start of stage 3 once grandma start talking after the player complains about turning too much left and use a drug to compense, the game crashes.
And a little other one but it helps me a lot: if you quit the game and choose continue, you'll start on the next stage
that was a pretty good catch, thanks eidern :O we updated the build with fixes for those issues (crash + save). mac has been pretty weird, apparently it doesn't create the crash.log file if it ran through an .app. we're still learning how to navigate mac anyway, so that was super useful!

This game is astounding. Plate spinner games rule.
I started out thinking to myself"I'm going to make Daggers McBlack a person who texts while driving, but I'm going to pick at least semi-reasonable dialog" and loved that it quickly devolved into "all of these choices are awful, daggers is a lunatic, ah well, I'm going to propose to my tinder date that I've shared 3 sentences of conversation with yolo"

It's not letting me comment on LD for some reason. Great game! Art was superb (as expected), and everything really came together. As it turns out, being a really good typist *sucks* in this game, which makes me laugh so hard for having my hands beaten with a ruler so many times as a kid. But I digress - very solid entry!
